Mental health professionals regularly encounter violence. When is reporting such violence useful? And when could the Public Prosecution Service decide to prosecute?

VU University Amsterdam is conducting research, in cooperation with several parties from the professional field, to establish the cases of violence in psychiatry in which criminal law could play a role. Outcomes of this study will contribute to clear policy and help reduce violence encountered by mental health professionals. Another objective of this project is to promote the sharing of knowledge and expertise at an international level.
