Professor J.W. (Ko) Hummelen has been an Endowed Professor of Forensic Psychiatry at the University of Groningen since August 2009. His research predominantly covers the treatment of impulse-control disorders. He also works as a psychiatrist at the ‘De Boog’ Forensic Psychiatric Unit (part of GGNet) in Warnsveld.
Why do you support this study?
Being attacked by a patient as a care provider is a traumatic experience. Clarity as to what can be expected in terms of criminal prosecution is a factor that helps people to deal with such serious events. Research into the criteria used by the judicial system as regards a punitive reaction will be highly useful. Currently, these criteria are unclear.
