Mental health professionals regularly encounter violence. Whether reporting such violence is useful, and in which cases the Public Prosecution Service may decide to prosecute, is not always clear. VU University Amsterdam is conducting research, in cooperation with various parties from the professional field, to establish the cases of violence in psychiatry in which criminal law could play a role.
This study involves gathering knowledge and experience from other countries and, to this end, we would like to establish an international network. Mental health professionals, policymakers, lawyers, police officers and other interested parties wishing to be involved are invited to register for this research project at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
